My Gear

A quick-look guide at my regularly used gear, both physical and digital, to produce photos, videos, and run my business. CAMERAS

Canon R5

My main camera body for both wildlife and landscape photography. High resolution coupled with super fast autofocus and fps make this a great all-rounder.

Canon EOS R

Canon’s first full-frame mirrorless camera and a great backup camera to have in my bag. Now used primarily for timelapse video while using the R5.

Canon EOS 5DIV

DSLRs are not gone yet and this is a solidly reliable camera. Used as a backup photo body and for filming video.

LENSES

Canon RF 24-105mm F/4 L

A fantastic general purpose lens and stays on my R5 the vast majority of the time for landscape and commercial work.

Canon EF 16-35mm F/4 L

Still one of my sharpest lenses, a great addition to the landscape photographers kit bag and well worth the money. I recommend this over the f/2.8 version usually.

Canon EF 100-400mm F/4.5-5.6 L II

My go-to lens for capturing subjects such as eagles and otters. Versatile and not too heavy with nice sharp results.

Canon RF 800mm F/11

You wouldn’t normally associate f/11 with wildlife photography but this lens is super sharp, very very lightweight and cheap!

Canon EF 50mm F/1.8 STM

It might be made of plastic but there’s a reason why the cheap 50mm f/1.8 has remained a staple of many people’s kit.

TRIPODS

Kingjoy C86M

Incredibly sturdy 4-section carbon fibre tripod that can handle big loads. Plus it looks great in camo styling!

Manfrotto 322RCS Grip Ball Head

The discontinued heavier weight version of this head is excellent. Quick and easy it makes shooting with one hand a breeze. Hard to get hold of these days!

BAGS

F-Stop Gear Ajna 37L Duradiamond

I am an ambassador for f-stop gear packs so use the code AL096KW08 for 15% off!

Thinktank Backlight 36L

A very comfortable backpack and still in my cupboard as a backup or spare. Plenty of room for camera gear and a roomy front pocket.

Thinktank Retrospective 7

Usually my second carry-on bag for flights, commercial or wedding shoots, and for strolling around the bush in Africa.
